What Curriculum Assist Does
At its core, Curriculum Assist takes the documents your program already produces — course syllabi — and turns them into actionable intelligence. Upload your syllabi as PDFs, and our AI ingestion engine extracts learning outcomes, key topics, assessment methods, prerequisites, and more. From there, the platform automatically maps every course against your curriculum areas, industry skills frameworks, and program learning objectives.
The platform offers a rich set of analytical capabilities right out of the box, including curriculum heatmaps for at-a-glance coverage visualization, Bloom's and SOLO taxonomy analysis for cognitive depth assessment, industry skills alignment to map your curriculum against employer-demanded competencies, prerequisite network analysis to identify bottleneck courses, and redundancy detection to surface unintentional content overlap between courses.
Beyond dashboards and visualizations, our Intelligent Insights engine uses advanced AI reasoning to generate targeted, actionable recommendations — identifying misalignments and strategic opportunities specific to your program. When it's time to share findings with stakeholders or accreditation reviewers, Curriculum Assist generates professional reports in PDF, Word, Excel, and HTML formats.
The Story Behind Curriculum Assist
Curriculum Assist grew out of a real need observed over many years in the trenches of higher education. The technology behind the platform was invented by Dr. Giri Athrey, an Associate Professor at Texas A&M University in College Station, where he has spent over two decades working in academic program leadership, curriculum design, and institutional assessment. Through this experience, Dr. Athrey recognized a fundamental gap: while institutions had access to sophisticated tools for student analytics, enrollment management, and research productivity, there was no specialized, intelligent platform dedicated to the curriculum itself — the very backbone of every academic program.
The intellectual property behind Curriculum Assist is owned by the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS), as a product of work performed by Dr. Athrey at TAMU College Station. Perspicax, LLC is the sole license holder for this technology and is leading the commercial venture to bring Curriculum Assist to institutions nationwide.
Created in the heart of Aggieland, Curriculum Assist is inspired by the land-grant mission of making education accessible and impactful for all. Texas is home to one of the fastest-growing higher education landscapes in the country — the second most populous state in the Union and the 8th largest economy in the world, with a GDP exceeding $2.7 trillion. As Texas institutions continue to expand and evolve, the need for intelligent, data-driven curriculum tools has never been greater.
That need is echoed by students themselves. Across disciplines, students are increasingly vocal about wanting curricula that reflect the current job market — programs that equip them with up-to-date skills and prepare them to be competitive from day one. Curriculum Assist was built to help programs respond to that feedback with evidence, not guesswork.
This origin story matters. Curriculum Assist was built by someone who has lived the challenges of curriculum oversight, accreditation preparation, and program improvement firsthand — and who set out to build the tool he wished had existed all along.
The Team
Giri Athrey, Ph.D. serves as Founder and CEO of Perspicax. As the inventor of the technology and a practicing academic leader, Dr. Athrey brings a rare combination of domain expertise and technical vision to the platform. His deep understanding of the curriculum lifecycle — from design through delivery to assessment — ensures that Curriculum Assist addresses the real workflows and pain points that academic programs face every day.
Mazette Croom, Ph.D. joins the team as Educational Technology Specialist. Dr. Croom is a recent doctoral graduate from Texas A&M University (Ph.D., 2025), bringing fresh research perspective and hands-on experience with educational technology implementation. In her role at Perspicax, Dr. Croom works directly with clients to help them get the most out of the platform — from onboarding and workflow setup to expert consulting on curriculum analysis strategy. She also leads the development of add-on features and consulting services that extend the platform's capabilities for programs with specialized needs.
What's Next
We're just getting started. In the months ahead, we'll be rolling out additional add-on modules including job-to-skill extraction from real job postings, industry skill demand and trends analysis, skills-to-careers and salary mapping, and instructor-focused analytics. We'll also be expanding our consulting offerings to support programs through the full cycle of curriculum review, redesign, and accreditation preparation.
